knitting pattern for socks with either a simple snowflake on the side or a christmas tree on the side?
i am a beginner at knitting so nothing too complicated please!
i’m looking for something with just two colours, with a simple motif on either the ankle or top-of-foot
the motif should be a snowflake or christmas tree preferable
i do not own circular needles

this is not my first project… i’ve actually been knitting for years, but i call myself a beginner because mostly i just make little cellphone or Ipod cases and spare-change purses as gifts. I’ve never used anything but size 8 normal needles.
You picked a really complicated first project. If you don’t own circular needles, then you’re going to have to acquire some double-pointed needles, usually about four or five. You’re going to have to know how to increase and decrease stitches, and you’re going to have to be really good about your gauge – it’s tough to make fitted garments like that if you want to make them the right size.

This is an extremely basic, simple sock pattern. If it looks too complicated for you, then you are in way over your head and should look into scarves.
